Sleep!

033

So if you know me and my son very well you will be well aware of the fact that he falls asleep well and sleeps all night. BUT… He likes to wake up early in the morning. That is my trade off for him sleeping from 11-12 hours straight at night. So that’s fine – until the morning when I have to get up. Winking smile

But yesterday there was a freak phenomenon that occurred. During our first hour of church (toward the end of it 9:50am) he grabbed his pacifier from my bag and crawled up on my lap. He hugged me and I rocked him for all of 2 minutes. Then he fell asleep. So cute. Usually when he falls asleep at church it lasts about 40 mins. So when the first meeting was over I had to hand him over to Ben so I could go and be part of my Sunday school class for the next two hours. As I shifted to stand up he started to cry. I calmed him and handed him over to Ben. He was fussy, but didn’t want to sit up and open his eyes. Come to find out he slept thru THE WHOLE REST OF CHURCH on Ben’s shoulder. We drove separately and by the time I got home D was now in his room… asleep! What?! So I ran with it. We had lunch and sat around for a while. He started to wake up and cry around 12:15pm and I went to get him. He was still lying down and when I gave him his pacifier he fell right back to sleep! Again, I ran with it!

So about 1:45 he woke up for real. I got him up and made him lunch. He played and we read books for a while. I was about to take him out with me to walk the dogs, but he needed a cuddle. So I grabbed my son and cuddled him on my bed for a minute. He fell asleep again (3:25pm). So I took advantage of the fact that he couldn’t stay on my bed alone and snoozed with him. He stirred a few times, but every time I put my hand on him and he fell right back to sleep. We stayed there until 5pm!! What?!?!

He was still a little cranky and clingy, but he was hungry so I made him his dinner and let him eat at his chair. He ate most of his food, but wasn’t happy. I tried to give him a few other things, but nothing was cutting it. So I tried giving him his “softie” and he started to cuddle with me immediately. I knew what he needed. He needed to go to bed! What?! So I put him in his jammies and we did scriptures, books, and prayers (all while I was trying to finish making dinner for Ben and I that I couldn’t finish because my baby was on my hip clinging to me the whole time – which I didn’t burn!!!).  It was 6:00pm when I left his room with him all tucked in. I said to Ben, “I don’t know what is up with our little chubby.” He said, “But you love it!!” It was funny. I was needing a small break from my non sleeping child. The passed few days/nights have been either one nap, or late bed time. I guess it all just caught up with him. He got up this morning at 6:30am. He was significantly more patient with my speed of preparing his breakfast, and was super happy even though he just woke up. It was great!

He took a one hour nap this morning. I texted Ben at work to tell him I thought his naps were back to normal Confused smile and he literally laughed and said you knew it wouldn’t last. BUT his afternoon nap just ended. 2:25pm-5:15pm. What?!?! His pillow was soaking wet with sweat, but he wasn’t hot… So I guess I’ll be washing his pillow and bedding now. Well worth it for a happy, healthy, well-rested little boy!

Wow! That is a lot of sleeping in one day. Don't you wish you could just sleep all day long sometimes?
I'm really excited for your new baby! You will be amazed at how you can love them both so much. It's a whole new ball game though, good luck! You will be a great mom of 2!
