On April 20, 2011 my husband ran the LA Marathon! It was a surprise when he called me and told me that he wanted to do it, but when I heard how it started I believed it. He and a coworker were talking about it and some one said he couldn’t run it. So being how he is he said oh yes he could. The other person said he’d pay him back the entrance if he did it. ha ha So, as the time got closer to us moving and him running the marathon I made it clear that I wanted to be there to cheer him on, whether or not we had moved at that time. That’s when we decided to just pack it up and get out of town in time for him to run the race. I think we cut it a little close, because I didn’t want him to be too tired from moving. But it worked out. The only downside was that it was raining. I don’t mean just a light shower. I haven’t experienced rain like that since El Nino in 1997(?). It was like a torrential downpour with such strong wind it looked like we had walked in thigh high water on the way back to the car. We sat on towels, blankets, jackets, etc. Anything we had that was dry! Dylan stayed dry, but Ben and his friend we not only tired but soaking wet and cold from the 26 miles! We had the heater on so high I was sweating. Then he took a really hot shower when we got home.
My husband is an amazing man! I can’t say enough about how great he is. He is especially good at following thru on goals! I can’t believe he did it. Now he wants to run some more. I find myself even thinking about it… Kind of. I might do a half marathon. I can’t fathom running for 5-7 hours! Yuck, and booooring! We’ll see.
Holding Dylan all bundled up in a blanket and under an umbrella.
With daddy after we found them outside in the crazy crowd of a zillion people!
I used on of Dylan’s white onsies to write a message to daddy.
”Great Job Running the LA Marathon 2011, Daddy!” P.S. Isn’t that the cutest little billboard you’ve ever seen in your life?
That was the same night. After daddy had a hot shower and dinner, Dylan had a bath and got ready for bed. Dylan loves his daddy!

Too bad I didn't know you a few days sooner, we could have hung out together in the rain to cheer on our crazy husbands! Cute onesie, I did the same thing last year for Kevin when John ran his first marathon. They're fun to watch, but I would never want to run one myself!
